Just say “no” to Apple

Filed under: Intellectual Property, Software — bblackmoor @ 12:09

There is an article on ZDNet called “Just say ‘no’ to Apple“. This is a great article, and very timely. I was just telling someone yesterday that the only real difference between Microsoft and Apple is that Microsoft is smarter than Apple — they’d both happily shackle the next several generations to an expensive proprietary licensing scheme. Apple is a villain, but it’s an incompetent villain.

Here’s a tip for the suckers who have fallen for Apple’s iTunes scheme: go to AllOfMP3.com and see what an online music store is supposed to be like — legal, inexpensive, easy to use, and with a music library far larger than that of the pathetic iTunes store.

Speaking of Apple, ZDNet reports that Apple has flaws that put both Macs and PCs at risk:

In a pair of security alerts released Thursday, Apple outlined 31 flaws that affect various versions of the operating system and a dozen vulnerabilities in its QuickTime media player software. Security experts have deemed the issues “critical,” but Apple does not provide a severity rating.

Of course, it is no secret that the Mac has serious flaws — as many flaws as Windows. What would be refreshing would be if Mac users took their heads out of the sand and noticed.
