Many other open-source licenses have such provisions already,&#8221; said Rosen. <\/p>\n<p>(from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eweek.com\/\">eWeek<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eweek.com\/article2\/0,1895,1856396,00.asp\">New GPL Will Contain Patent Protection<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure adding penalties will actually accompish anything, though. If anything, I think they might chill the widespread adoption of open source software.
