The night will pass

No one likes to hear “I told you so”, but I did. Over a decade ago. A decade before that, when I still worked for NATO under the aegis of United States Joint Forces Command, I wrote this in a progress report:

“The significant obstacles we face in creating a better system are rarely technological. They are nearly always social. The problem, as always, is people.”

— Brandon Blackmoor, 2003

This will pass, but it’s much too late to complain about it. The people of the USA made this bed, and we will all spend the night in it. I hope the best of us survive until morning. Take care, and watch out for snakes.

Like butter scraped over too much bread

I am tired of a pretty decent premise for a two-hour movie being stretched into ten hours of people standing around being idiots. You (meaning I) should be invested in the story by the end of the second episode; you should not still be waiting for the story to start.

Picard (season 2+) and Silo are the most recent examples I can think of. Two episodes (each) was enough of my time to waste on them.

P.S. And stop it with the damned “camera shake” and “film grain” effects.
